CARLUCCI PV152757 Sheet Replacement Foot Board for Vespa 150 VBB1T 472X700MM
Description
“From 1958 the overall chassis design of the Vespa was significantly different from that of previous models. The advent of the Vespa 125 VNA/150 VBA Vespa models meant the end of wideframe Vespa production. Of course we also have spare parts for all wideframe Vespa models available to allow these vintage scooters to be maintained and fitted for many years to come! We have established a clear difference between the VNA/VBA Series I models from 1958 to 1959 and the models produced since then. The Series I already had three footpeg mounts but no “X” shaped frame reinforcement stamps. The following models show a slight variation in the shape of the curve along the join of the footboard section, along with the different shape of the control cable channel, but are identical in width. Vespa models produced from 1971 had footrests with just two uprights, which continued through to the full PX range, only their overall shape gradually evolving over the years. The change from three to two struts is particularly relevant for Vespa 125 GT / GTR, 150 Sprint / Veloce, along with Vespa Rally models. For a completely original restoration, we recommend checking the underside of your Vespas footpegs in particular to determine if there are two or three uprights before ordering any replacement frame parts. Unfortunately, most older Vespas have collected their fair share of dents and rust in the panels. This is not only ugly, but can also attract unnecessary attention from the vehicle inspector or traffic policeman. In previous years such damage had to be repaired extensively by specialists, but we now have a simpler solution in the form of complete body panel replacements available from stock. These replacement body panels vary, depending on the model, in their width, included struts, control cable openings, and occasionally the size of the brake pedal opening. Some smallframe chassis panels already come with the ‘X’ and ‘K’ reinforcement struts, securely welded into place. The full range of replacement body panels feature a mounting crease for the windscreen edging and are not painted, but oiled. They are also available in various lengths, with some including curved. These longer types allow you to repair damage to the Original frame work under the front fender area. The 70cm long type reaches halfway up the fender and the 90cm version to the bottom edge of the horn cladding. Most of these board replacement panels also feature brackets and channels for routing control cables, although these detailed features are not found on the cheaper items in the range. The premium version of these body replacement parts is the type that includes both windshields and running boards in one piece. This article simplifies most body repairs and any evidence of previous attempts to “individualize” the scooter’s design with an angle grinder or similar to no avail! Many hours of welding, sanding, hammering, sanding and filling can be saved by replacing the complete assembly, although to be fair, some are delivered without the reinforcement panels in place. We have high quality floor panels produced by small Italian panel beating workshops, such as Sandro Carlucci, CUPPINI or others in the program. This variety of manufacturers helps avoid issues with inconsistent availability. Cheaper produced replacement body panels are not manufactured with the greatest precision, so their lengths and reinforcement arrangements may vary from the expected norm. This makes it essential to always check the compatibility of your new panel BEFORE it is welded into place, giving you the opportunity to modify and adapt the part prior to its permanent placement. Note: We also have replacement metal covers available for all Vespa models that have them fitted, along with many other types of replacement body and frame panels! Conclusion: cut out the old panels, weld in the new one, fill, sand and paint and once again your scooter is reborn! SIP-TIP: Don’t forget to order new floor pads and tires, leg trims and a new horn cover. A riveter and beading applicator make the whole job much easier and more professional. The Vespa and PIAGGIO badge are the icing on the (birthday) cake!”
