Description

The Italian tire manufacturers PMT have been producing high-quality, high-end tires for the smaller wheel racing fraternity since the 1990s. These tyres, until now only available in sizes suitable for racing cars or Radio Controlled pocket bikes, are now also available for scooters. PMT tires are renowned for their wide range of different tire material blends and various tire tread profiles used in their manufacture, suitable for every (breed) track condition. Scooter riders in Italy have already been convinced of the superior adaptability and consequently better performance offered by the PMT tire range. We have PMT tires available with the following combinations of tread pattern and material blend or profile: Slick Mix Rigid: The tires for the toughest conditions. Due to its harder rubber mix material this type of tire wears slower than its medium or soft counterparts and is therefore more suited to long distance or even endurance racing. The downside that comes with the added durability offered by this type of harder mixes is that they require longer to reach their effective working temperature of 80 degrees Celsius (C) or 176 degrees Fahrenheit (F). This type of tire is recommended for a (dry) track temperature between 30 and 40??C (86 – 104??F). Its optimal grip is achieved with an inflation pressure of 1.2 – 1.3 bar at the front and 1.4 – 1.9 bar at the rear. Medium Mix Slick: Tires with medium hardness material mix are more popular in scooter competitions. Maximum grip alone is not what this tire is about the balance between the amount of grip and its durability is what really matters for this particular compound. All of this, of course, depending on the quality of the race track itself and the environmental conditions. A wide range of potential racing conditions are covered by the specification of this tire making it, more often than not, a safe bet on race days. This tire is also happy with a (dry) track temperature of 30 – 40C or 86-104F. Its actual working temperature is slightly lower though at 75CF or 167 but, similar to the harder compound of these tires need almost all the time to be worked up to so much on the track. The pressure of Recommended tires are 1.2 – 1.3 bar at the front and 1.4 – 1.9 bar at the rear. Slick Color Blend: Want grip He got it! The softest tire compound in this bracket has only one purpose: to, quite literally, stick your tires to the road! Consequently, the effective working temperature is reached in a relatively short time. The downside to such a grippy, soft compound though is that they unfortunately have to be replaced after every race. The recommended tire pressures are 1.2 – 1.3 bar at the front and 1.4 – 1.9 bar at the rear. R – Slick: Do we need a rain tire or a slick When you are not quite sure of the weather conditions in the coming race period this question definitely needs to be answered. PMT we have the solution: an intermediate compound combined with a minimalist ‘smooth’ type tread profile. The ‘R-Slick’ is ideal for volatile weather conditions and an important ingredient in the winning formula of many teams’ racing successes. The recommended tire pressures are 1.2 – 1.3 bar at the front and 1.4 – 1.9 bar at the rear. Rain Racing: THE rain tire racing for all forms of scooter sports! An expertly arranged tread profile combined with the most technically applied compounding material available make it stand out among the current tires available for wet race use. All the teams that have used the PMT rain tire have been completely convinced by its superior qualities in the wet. We can also highly recommend this tire for use in heavy rain and/or a wet track! The recommended tire pressures are 1.2 – 1.3 bar at the front and 1.4 – 1.9 bar at the rear.
