The introduction of the SIP Strada XL relegates this class to optical tuning type exhaust. If ever an exhaust deserved the term, the SIP Strada XL is truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing. This tube resembles the original article so closely most have to look again to guess its true assets and potential. It has enormous internal dimensions, very similar to the volume of most bazooka style expander/silencer systems. The SIP Strada XL is made using a double wall construction. It has been designed with a layer of muffler wool between the solid outer and inner perforated layers of steel to ensure that this exhaust sounds as discreet as it looks. This advantage keeps the neighbors happy while avoiding the necessary attention from the authorities or your local ear doctor following longer tours on your VESPA. The performance delivery we have achieved with the SIP Strada XL is something we are particularly proud of. The XL creates extra power beyond full revs and also allows higher revs normally only possible in combination with a Performance SIP, expansion chamber PM, RZ or similar. The manifold can be connected to the stub socket on the cylinder with a traditional clamp or a spring system and scooters with eight inch wheels will require an upgrade to ten inch elements. Conclusion: This system offers the performance of the larger ‘SIP Performance’ exhausts, with the discreet appearance of the SIP Strada 2.0, its little brother in the range. For 200cc engines with an SI carburetor the size of the main jet should be increased by at least ten degrees. A 210cc cylinder, a Cosa model clutch, a race or engine bellhousing and a modified cylinder head are highly recommended. In combination with a VESPAtronic ignition, a reed valve manifold on a 30-36mm carburettor, a reed-crank valve bell of the SIP Strada XL can produce around 30 PS!
